The Remains of the Slopes at Buckaloons.

Why would we show a ski resort on a bike website?

HINT : MOUNTAIN Biking

Because this is where the growth and new popularity is coming from.  Ski resorts all across the US and Canada have discovered the benefits of keeping the lifts open year round. In the summer, instead of hoisting skiers up the hill, they take bikers to the top. Then let them cascade down miles of singletrack to the bottom.  Of course you don't always need a lift to the top, any descent trail and a willingness to pedal can be even more fun.

(If the Cross Brothers could have seen the future, I wonder if they would have sold the Buckaloons and let it get shut down.)

Its sad for a community like Youngsville (located in the Pa. wilds), to suffer an economic loss. However, the upswing of this new angle on biking, is leading to new opportunities to ride everywhere.

WHAT IS SINGLETRACK ??

More and more people are catching on to the excitement and health benefits of riding hiking trails, that previously, where used only by the casual hiker.  That's what singletrack is. Hiking still has it's niche in our culture, but the popularity has died down some. Now folks who want to be physically and mentally pushed, without going to the extremes of some sports, are turning these hiking trails into great places to ride.

MOUNTAIN BIKING IS MUCH MORE THAN RAILS TO TRAILS.

Rails to trails are great family fun and should be endorsed everywhere. However, this type of riding is not the same as flowing along the contours of the local mountain ridges, riding through rock gardens and maneuvering the roots and logs in the path. That is the excitement that has made mountain biking so popular.

This is our cause. To help maintain existing trails and support in the effort to build new trails, that can be used by all those who enjoy and respect the outdoors and the sanctity of mountain biking.

If you are a landowner or land manager, that would like information on how we can help you with public access trail ways, please contact our liaison at the address below.

All of our trails building activities are insured and conducted in accordance to the policies of the International Mountain Biking Association.
